Gday I like poplar as it is soft and easy to get all you need is to make sure that your knives are very sharp poplar is easy carving and holds detail very well.it gets a bit fuzzy when you use kutzall burrs but these soon clean up with a sharp knife ,I made myself a case for all my knives and this way i can take them when we go traveling (see pic below )Thanks for all the great feedback. Karl The case is made of Huon pine and Tassie blackwood and lined with soft material that my wife had spare the holder is silky oak

Karl I don't have any luck at all trying to carve with knifes
I like how you can see what type of blade the knife has in the boxsmile and the world will smile with you
