    Default Redish timber

I am after some Redish Timber that is solid but not too heavy...

I had a look at some jarrah today but I would need a crane to lift it.

This is for a small Speaker enclosure that I want to polish.

    Any suggestions ?

    Regards

    Greg

You could try Gerronggang. Its a reddish pink. Not all is as figured as this. But it is light in weight.

I made a table top last year out of stuff called "Amora" (Spelling?) . The timber guy who sold it to Me said it was poor mans Jarrah , looked a lot like Jarrah but not as heavy.

    Default red timber

Red cedar or rosewood would be the best local NSW (and Australian) timbers you could use.
Let me know if you want some inch boards, I can arrange for Mal to bring them down to Sydney for you.
    regards

Thanks for all your helpful replies.

I ended up picking up some Mahogony today that seems to be a bit lighter than the jarah.

    Hi Greg

Thanks for your offer regarding the Red Cedar or Rosewood. Do you sell boards ?

I actually read your reply after I picked up the Mahogany. The rosewood would look nice.

    Regards

    Default Rosewood

I'm planning to bring some down from Mal either before or after Christmas, along with a stack of cedar boards as there seems a demand for these at the right price.
Rosewood however will be difficult to discount, it is hard to get and milling recovery is very poor. Price will be around $7-8 super foot, cedar around 5-7 depending.
I'll place a note in the buynsell section when its here.
    Thanks
    Greg

    Thanks Greg,

I will get some Rosewood boards from you when you have it.

    I'll keep any eye open.

    Regards

    Greg
