    To answer your question, Arty, the best carving timbers I have stashed are olive (you already know that one), silver birch, dry, golden cypress, dryish, cherry, green. As you can see, though, it is unlikely that we can get enough people interested.

    i love that newish lmao yeah new to the game of carving maybe 10yrs ago i was new
    and as for the pics ray posted well there is more to that
    caver then most of u know
    the man who carved the brestplate will leve us all for dead in a comp lol trust me i got to see all his work and his house and well i was lost for words

    So is it a carving or a sculpting comp? if the difference isn't known I'm outa this one! I mostly hate comps anyway - so distracting.

    Flickr is Yahoo. I think you need to join a yahoo group to be in it. I haen't anymore photos of the piece you mention. It is a limesone block and I had King Lear and Cordelia (Shakespeare) in mind when I did it. It sits in a moist part of the garden and collects moss without rotting but is soft.
