making speakers for shed

Gday all

I have recently completed a much awaited workshop and am up to the stage of fitting it out. I love listening to music, especially when working and so i am putting a decent stereo in the shed. i currently have a 6.1 80w RMS into 8ohm marantz reciever which i am not using due to upgrading my house reciever. i intend to use this reciever in the shed but i am struggling to find speakers at the right price. I was considering building 6 speakers for the shed. Does anyone have any suggestions/plans for building a medium/large size bookshelf speakers which sound ok but are a reasonable price? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

You dont need 6 speakers in your workshop... your not watching movies
LSK make some speaker kits that may suit you, add a musical sub to for decent sound.

i know i don't NEED 6 speakers for the shed, but hey, if i can i may as well. I also have a tv, dvd player and HD STB. This way when watching sport etc i can still get surround sound!!! The shed is also a little bit of an entertainment venue as well. thanks for the link, will check it out. my original idea was to get outdoor speakers, but to get some that can handle 80w rms they cost a fair bit.

i actually have the LSK S250 sub in my lounge. i got it years ago when they were based in centreway shopping centre at keilor east!! love the sub.

Speaker developments over the last thirty years have been mainly to make the speakers smaller, cheaper and more eye-appealing - little to do with sound quality.

Many people have and are trading in very good units to buy the latest model. A good quality older speaker in good condition will always sound better than a cheaper modern one.

Go talk to your local audio retailers and tell them you are in the market for some good quality pre-loved speakers for your Marantz. Ideally the front and centre speakers should be the same; the rear can be slightly smaller.
