Thumbs up Had a Nice Little Score Today

My neighbour mentioned to me the other day that he had a wooden handplane lurking in his shed that was given to him by another neighbour from his old neighbourhood and said if it was of any use to me, I could have it.

Anyway, he wandered over today with it.

Needs a bit of a clean-up, but should be a good user I reckon

Can't complain about the price anyway

It'll make a nice doorstop for the shed...
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

Well, I've been out in the shed and flattened the back of the blade, reground the bevel and given it a sharpen and can report that it will certainly be a good user

All I need to do now is clean it up, clean the rust up on the sole and sides
    Cheers

    I hate these stories!
It's like winning Lotto - only seems to happen to someone else!

Good score - and actually, I'm pleased to see it fall into hands that will enjoy it & give it a new lease of life!

    Cheers,
    IW

    DJ,
    steel, gunmetal and rosewood...lovely!
People can be very generous to us poor obsessed fools...watch out for the infill bug it's sting is pretty dangerous!
I have old tools displayed around my studio where I see clients, and they have lead to similar experiences to yours. My latest gift form a client was this one, just a chisel and a rusty UK #4 1/2 Stanley.
Charmain has been a client of mine for years, and she is researching a book on freestone walls around Australia, and we were chatting about old tools and such last November. She returned a week later and she gave me the tools that had been in her garage for about 25 years, she said they might tickle my fancy. They sure did, the last owner was her notorious husband...Ronnie Biggs.
    Regards,
Peter...BTW another gift from a client is featured in the latest ODD ONE OUT tool comp, and that isn't the reason...but it is the "odd one out"

I'll swap my clients for Peter's clients... and my neighbours for DJ's ... any takers.

My neighbour, borrows tools, always brings them back, nice guy too.
But he is severely handicapped in the infill plane department!

Now I bet that is one 4 1/2 that could tell some stories, he was a carpenter of sorts as I recall.

    Thumbs up

Stories like this one always seem to get past the censors. Don't understand why.

    Great score DJ!
