    Default demolition yards in Brisbane?

    Hi there,

I'm a relative newbie when it comes to working with timber. To date, I have worked only on pine and am looking to move into hardwoods. I'd like to get some good "stuff" - however to begin (and practice) with , I've noticed a few forum members mention that they've managed to pick up hardwood cheaply in demolition yards - could someone point me in the direction of one in or near Brisbane?

    Thanks guys

Underwood Demolition Market (at Underwood near Bunnies).
    - Prices are up and down ...depends what you need

I also noticed one out at Ipswich once while passing it on the train... somewhere near the Ipswich station. Seemed to have a good range of everything... No idea what prices are like
How much wood could the woodchuck chuck if the woodchuck could chuck wood?

on your trip between stones corner and the strange guy, there is one on Holdsworth Street, Coorparoo down the Stones Corner end,

And there is one at Michlin(I think) St Moorooka, has all the wood very well laid out like at a timber yard. Different types and sized organised together.

I don't know the names of the yards, just know where they are...

    Smile Demolition yards

I found the one in Underwood underwood demolition market, to be the cheapest by a mile. quote 8x3 hardwood $7.50 per meter other places, may I mention theyre names eg big red shed $30 per meter, I nearly choked LOL.
Kennedys classic aged timbers are also very well organised. The one in Mooroka, well im not so sure i agree with writers on that one

    Default demo yards

Hey guys yeah Id have to agree Underwood Demo is probably the best out there. huge yard, well organised and helpfull staff. Big red shed is good too, and for some awesome timber see kennedy classic aged timbers. very pricey, but hey you get what you payu for dont you. I love trwaling around looking at the old stuff, that old timber is so much better then the crap you but today

    Default Demolition wood

Yeah Kennedys and big red shed at Darra are fantastic places to look at timber. Dont know about buying it very costly lol, but certainly gives a good indication of what real wood should look like. My dad always raves about the joint out at Underwood demolition, Ive been there a few times and it looks neat and tidy and they seem to have a huge amount of stock. Thanks for all the advice Ive been able to get of this web site, so I thought it time I put something into it too

Its a pretty small yard tucked down a little side street, wouldnt imagine theyd have to much room for timber. But than again ever been to that one along the train line in coorparoo, it looks tiny but the amount of crap he squeezes into that place is funny. Mind you I never see any customers there. dont think access is real good
