    Default shed cleanup

at the start of the year I try and bite the bullet and get rid of the growing pile of stuff that
(for various reasons) was never going to get finished,
many are unsalvageable (hidden cracks and knots,) some are demo roughouts, but most are just bad ideas in the first place
it's frustrating because of the many hours spent on them,
but when they're gone, (yesterday) it's like a breath of fresh air.

anyways, I'm convinced that some stuff lying round the shed (unfinished projects etc) can be a big de-motivator, get rid of it now!

what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

Undie, I would love to have 1 or 2 of them in the house, even if they are unfinished. Is that a possibility?

    Cheers

nz, a word of advice mate,
one of these days you're going to have to step into the big black abyss of your own concept.

Sounds like they've overstayed their welcome. Their just the ones that got away Undy. Find comfort in that in some way they've been stepping stones along the way. Could be good to let some weather outside to see what happens or cut out the good wood for some use later on. Seems a pity just to chuck em, maybe you could nail them to a pailing fence and use them as a wailing wall Sit them on top of fence posts or dance around a bonfire of them as a sacrifice to the bad idea gods

    well said, Spring,
I do the purge fairly regularly now, sort of like a detox,
they don't get wasted btw, an old bloke that lives up in the hills near here comes and gets them,
he lives in a rambling old WIP that he's been salvaging stuff to add to for years,
he uses my discards to replace a broken table leg or to nail over a hole in the ceiling,
he only sees my stuff as an answer to some building problem,
it looks great, I'll see if he'll let me take pics.

Good to see Im not the only one that has to have a cleanout for the pieces that just didnt work .
I send mine to the firegods that I have in the shed over winter

When I started carving I had a 50% burn rate of carvings. Now its around 25% burning.
I used to look at it as a waste of my time; now though its a learning process. Very valuable.

    Always feels good the purge.

Ahhhh that sounds fabulous!! Must be rather like stepping inside a huge boat with figureheads popping out everywhere? Wonderful imagery comes to mind!
