Question Triton / GMC Status update?

    Hi,

I know that there are other threads dealing with this but I put in an order for the TRA001 (big one) router and got the following message today:

...Hello Brett. Unfortunately we're out of stock of the item you have requested. We won't be able to recieve new stock until GMC/Triton goes under new ownership. We apologise for any inconvenience this might have caused.

Your order has been updated to the following status.

    New status: Pending...

This is no reflection on the retailer but I'm a bit unsure seeing as I have just ordered the Woodpecker router plate which is predrilled to fit the TRA001.

Anyone know what the latest status with a new purchaser (and therefore restocking retailers) is?

    Cheers,

Maybe looking at those other threads will help.

    Brett,

If I were you I'd be ringing every Bunnings store within a reasonable distance. They are throwing the Triton stuff out at cheap prices but you have to ask, as most of the Triton stuff was taken off the Bunnings shelves a month or more ago, and put on pallets out the back. Some demo stuff is still floating around in store but you need to be quick.

    Cheers

    Rick

PS Mitre10 often has a bit of Triton stock in store but they don't appear to be discounting it.

Colin Rayner of Northwood Tools, has an update in his newsletter here. Doesn't look too good for GMC OR Triton.

EDIT: You will need to scroll down about 2 pages.

we too are considering taking them off our website. Over the past 3months we have had to try put out too many fires related to gmc/triton. We would ring customer service & sit on hold for over 5mins every time trying to resolve issue & getting different answers from different reps from the company.

We have been getting on average 3-6 orders a day relating to triton/gmc which we cant fill as the administrators are not covering any warranties at the moment from sales made just before the administrators appointment. To the extent that im going to department of fair trading hearing on friday for a warranty issue..

As a consumer I would wait till the new owners take over so you get a proper warranty cover...we have been getting told its 30days away for the last 2 months & are starting to get unconfident it giving customers any comments

I really don't think you have any choice any more. If you leave them on your site, the customer frustration is taken out on you, and can only be harmful to your own business. If GMC get resurrected, you can put the gear back up......when you are sure you are going to be supported.

    Default Getting even stranger

We have just received a document outlining the remainder stock and clearout products for both GMC and TRITON. It also makes clear that GMC will not be providing warranty on these items. There are some 30-40 thousands tools on the list. It is a final clearout. This to me indicates the receiver has decided these are not going to be part of any deal for prospective buyers. So what would the buyer being getting ? From GMC not much, from TRITON a manufacturing possibility, but both will now have a very damaged name. As I said in my newsletter I assume GMC and TRITON are finished. Time may prove me wrong, but I do not have ANY confidence in this. And these old stock products will be flooding onto the market with hazy warranty from the seller at best, what will that do to the name.

    Cheers

I had a feeling that was what you were doing Stuart .but i looked at it differently because i reckoned the triton routers and saw i bought was price cheap for quality 2 tra 001 ,1 mof 001 for$467.00 and a 184mm saw with the laserlight for$100 all new.router template kit and hight winder kit and saw stablising kit for $50.while i got some good deals i'm not happy to see GMC,Triton go because less tools to chose from can't be good for the D I Y blokes like me.

Don't worry - I still have plenty of orange tools still!
TSA001, TRA001 x2, MOF001, TA184CSL, and on and on. In fact in starting to write this list I found that I was thinking of more and more that I do have. Just not the big tools anymore.

In Bunnings the other day, and there was a Ozito tablesaw that looked very very similar to an early model GMC (back when their tablesaw was a benchtop tool). Everything changes and still stays the same.
