Default Eureka canoe, outriggers and proper sailing rig

Hi Michael,I have been looking at the eureka canoe as an entry level build.
I noticed on your site "Outriggers and sailing rig for a Eureka will soon be available".
Is the outriggers and canoe plan package now available ?

    Howdy,

The Outrigger pack has information on building the outrigger hulls and crossbeams so you need to get a hold of that through one of my agents.

Once you have done that there are some additional drawings giving a crossbeam curve that matches the Eureka better and about mast support and the outline of a polytarp lateen sail. I pass these onto anyone getting the Eureka plan and outrigger plan at no additional cost.

It does take a little bit of working out of details ... but not too bad.

Thanks Michael, when used in sail/outrigger mode what would you suggest for steering.Would it be possible to incorporate a removable rudder system perhaps?

yes. That is a good idea. I did have one customer who used a paddle to steer who did serious damage to his back.

The drawings do include the PDRacer rudder and blade ... a nice big rudder makes a lot of sense because canoes that paddle well don't tack well under sail ... their ends are too grippy and don't like turning - so a big rudder like the PDR one is useful
