Sound interesting, depends on cost of membership though, some of us no doubt are already members of clubs and associations. These things can mount up sometimes.

I'm not a wood carver, I can however see the advantage of having a national body representing everyone.

I think the first step would be to have a meeting with all the state or city wide associations. It would be best to do this in a location that is somewhat exotic or that has attractions....I'd suggest Hobart as Tassie has great timbers and a long association with timber.

So you set up your first? national conference.....various speakers. lots of exhibitors trying to sell you stuff and paying towards the gig. At the conference you discuss the benefits or otherwise of a national body...put it to a vote ...and go from there...

Lots of work...but if done correctly it will greatly enhance every individual members profile.

    Good luck

I came on here this evening to try and find anyone in my area (that I have just move to being Parkes NSW)

Having a Australia wide group or association would be good.

Can I suggest that there be somewhere you can search people in your own area and maybe a single page of where to buy timber from ( I am having a really bad time of finding timber around here)
