good job
getting all the shapes to match is in size and shape is not a easy thing to do well done
yes it would look a lot better without a gap
l would loved to have seen a head poking out if you didn't tell me it was a turtle it could have been a seed pod or something
and you don't have to be a carver to critique
and there is no need to be rude carvosmile and the world will smile with you

Take two
Here's a photo of the darkened band.
It's does even out the whole thing a bit better but now that I've gotten some 'clean clay' I'll be doing maquettes in the future.
It's funny you should mention the pod thing Spirit because I was originally going to use the scales for the outside of a pod-form hollow vessel!

Great work Josh, I can see the turtle in there ,and also some artful adaption of thoughts .I find what you begin with isn`t always what you end up with ,If it stll lives within then you got it .Mayby more the ancestor :2tsup Danny
