Oh for goodness sake! Why?
.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

Only 50 available.
None of them are ever likely to take a shaving.
Seems somehow tragic.

There is always going to be a market for high-end collectables, and that looks like a nice plane (I wonder what it cuts like?).
There must be a number of well-off woodies out there as they are all sold out. My shock is the price tag, phew!
Anybody know how long they guarantee parts for?

I can understand a collector paying that amount of money for a rare old tool. An item like that is truly irreplaceable.
What gets me is when a company decides to manufacture a "limited edition" in such an obvious move to sell something at a much higher price than it would ordinarily fetch. What you are buying is the number stamped on it and you are relying upon the collector market to continue to value the object highly in order to get a return on your investment, if you are looking at the purchase that way.
I bet most of them have been bought by people who have no intention of selling them though.
But then I shouldn't talk because I have several numbered items signed by well-known cricket players on my wall"I don't practice what I preach because I'm not the kind of person I'm preaching to."

I wouldn't buy one in a pink fit.. but it's a pretty amazing looking plane.. fugly and lovely at the same time. Love the sliding dovetail on the adjustable mouth. I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting one if their budget permitted.
Best regards, Luban
