Default Not so classic sailing boat on Youtube

I just found another Jim Michalak boat on Youtube, this time a Wooboto - even the name isn't classic!

Do you know what boat is the platform for the woobooto film?

You will notice some familiar gunwale spacers and transom top curve.

For a moment there, I thought you were referring to the Wooboto.
Then I realised that the filming boat is so fast that Wooboto looks like it is standing still...

    Loved the ice boats.
Insurance for if the ice breaks...

    2 thoughts....

    1. I wonder whether a skate kit for The Goat would sell

    2. Has anyone done a wind-surfer iceboat ?

Howdy AJ, yap windsurfers. Even a wing sail a skater can slip over the top of himself, herself.

Waaaay back ... I remember seeing pictures of people in holland in a "London Illustrated News" from about 1905 wearing skates and holding oversized kites by hand including going upwind.

In the end the patent for windsurfers could only protect the swivel joint!

This one is the Woobooto filming the Goat. I can't read the GPS they hold up .. but I hear the number 8 I think.

    Default Bantry Bay Gigs

The Atlantic Challenge is raced in copies of a French 18thC gig which is preserved in Ireland. The original was captured by the English after a failed French invasion of Ireland.

Great looking boats with their dipping lugs and large crews:

    Default Another Micro

Finally came across another Bolger Micro on youtube. This one all tucked up on a mooring in the UK. Junk rig . . .well, a lugger . at least, by the look of the mast and furled sail.

    Applecross, by name

The Micro mentioned in the post above can now be seen sailing with its polytarp junk rig an'all.

In the best tradition of experimentation, the set looks a bit ordinary and a somewhat complicated affair but I do take my hat off to the gent.

    Default hats off to Micro

Yes, it does look a bit Heath Robinson but seems to work! Complicated is right, anyway, there were two videos so I think this is the other:

Unhandy, unweatherly, overly complex, convoluted contrivances, etc. Precisely the opposite of what you want in a small cruiser. God bless him for having a go of it anyway, though.
