    Default Cedar rose jewlerybox

Hand carved cedar base from one piece, the small bowls and holders are releifed (?) as part of the carving as it progressed ,the interior was hand carved as well the same way. This was the first carving i attemted it all started with the lid ,i originally just had the idea of a cedar rose, the lid is silky oak,i first carved out the rose ,filled it with a putty mix of cedar dust and glue, then carved a slight concave on the inner side of the lid and a lip to centre it.I then sanded a slight concave to the outside, it was only then that i decided that i enjoyed carving so much that i would carve a box to suit ,it all just manifestered itself as i whent along The shot of the tools used was just to show that you just need to be inspired to create the transfer of thought to creation and the means is most probably at hand, so to speak. It`s also the only tool`s i have

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."

Nice piece DsArt. You thought the process through very well.

Schaf (TERRY) i always use Cabots gloss ,its about the cheapest, and i find it does okay for what i do ,covers well ,and settles well between coats, i`m not a big fan of sandin ,happy to leave a few marks ,gives a hand made look to the piece, thats my excuse an i`m stickin to it,Soo i find this finish fills in that little bit of slacko that i am,DANNY
