    Default zulu hair

    G'day everyone,

Can anybody offer me some advice on how to carve hair. Particularly tight curly hair like some of the African men & women have?

    Cheers

One way (probably not the only way, nor the best way) to carve hair is to NOT carve hair. Carve only the impression of hair. Look at some carved marble statues of Caucasians, such as Greek or Roman - very coarse impression of hair. For curly hair, consider random drilled holes for their centres, and random slices about the curls.

Next time I see him, I'll ask a friend/neighbor who's a professional portrait sculptor. He might know a better way.

    Cheers,
    Joe

    Thanks Joe

You have given me food for thought. Looks like a bit of experimenting coming up.
