The other day when reading all these threads, several people were talking about a very good book on routing templates. I have just spent the last hour and a quarter trying to find it. I don't know the name of it , can someone shed some light on the subject please.

Bum bloody poop Glenn! I was going to recommend the first and the third of those three as I read his post! Not in that order though! Like the Woodsmith offering better for a novice jigger!

    Default router templates

Taunton do a very good book on jigs and templates but its not router specific, Complete Illustrated Guide to Jigs and Fixtures ISBN-10:1-56158-770-2, Router Joinery Worksop by Carol Reed isbn 1-57990-328-2 is also good, lots of different technique and Patrick Speilmen Router Jigs and Techniques isbn 0-8069-6694-7, this is now out of print but u might get a copy via amazon.

Tomod, I was reading these forums, and there was a discussion on whether a router table and incra or other devices were necessary. Some one said you could do everything you needed with Templates or jigs, and suggested a book. Then a few people gave a glowing report on this book , and then several other people said they had just purchased it, and ,yes, it was excellent. I have been trying to find the thread ever since.

and thank you to all who have replied to this question

I have developed new routing techniques with the use of Jigs templates and Guides. I do not recall saying there was a book available on how they are used as I was unaware one existed when I was experimenting some 25 years ago.

Making your own templates is a very rewarding experience as you can design most items to suit what you are doing. There is a need to learn more about the use of template guides should you wish to produce such templates.

If you wish to PM me with any question you may have I may be able to assist you
