hi all,
im needing to make myself a new w/bench (the old one is just getting to old)
im looking for some feed back of an idea i had for a vise ,
if i buy one of those work horses and take the legs off and incorperate it into the top of the bench. flush with the top of the w/bench and paralel with the front. this would have to go on the right hand side with the trad. vice on the left, writing this ive just realised id have to set it back so the handles wouldnt foul the front of the bench.
the reason for this is that my shed is reasonably small and i cant have an end vice because of space and this i thought would give me a way to clamp boards flat on the bench.
any ideas good or bad much appreciated. thanks.

I reckon all you'd need were the screws and sliding track....not a bad idea when you think of it. $20 bucks wouldn't buy you the hardware!

I have been thinking along similar lines (not with the workmate) I was just going to thread a couple of 1 1/2" dowells, tap some corresponding holes and use a lump of 6 x 2.

Tap and Thread about $80.00 but I think I have a 1 1/2+ nut and bolt somewhere that I can bodgey up and get it for sip......

Keep us posted on how it works...it may be the next big thing!

Cheers,

P
