Hi folks.

I'm looking for some timber in Newcastle to build a bed, possibly 70x70 dressed Tasmanian Oak, and also some wider boards of the same (maybe such as 150x20 or so). So my question is where could I source such timber in Newcastle?

Cheers,
Ryan.

Don't know what he will have but Salty (a member on these forums) mills timber in the Newc area. His website is 043 turning (his phone number is also 043 turning )

We are in Gosford, not so far and have Tassi Oak but no 75x75... you'll need to laminate to get that thickness.

Also Hudsons (aka wes Hughes) at Glendale should have some.

OK, thanks for that. Have found some about the place for $20 a metre. Does that feel about right to everyone for dry, dressed timber?

Fatman, that's over $4,000 per cube... a bit steep if you ask me???

It's dry and dressed. I have never bought timber before, so I'm just wondering is all. I think I'll spend a little time on the telephone Saturday morning.

$20/m for dry and dressed 75x75 is good going.
