I need to bore 2mm into this component. As you can see I've already tried with what tooling I have and failed miserably. Is a custom tool in order?

You should be able to do that with HSS as long as its not hard.
Have a look on the net for Trepaning.I think thats how you spell it.
Your tool needs to be Sharpened correctly to achieve your desired result.
It would take me to long to describe how you would do this job especially if you are a novice.

Looks like stainless and for doing that I would grind a tool to do it, something with a nice sharp point on it so it cuts easily.

A couple of question re this job.

What is the material ?

What type of machine are you going to use, mill or lathe ?

It's brass and I'm turning it on a AL-54B. I ground up a bit of HSS and it did the trick
