Hi I have this lathe and I am not sure what type or brand it is? I am wanting to sell it so does anyone know what it would roughly be worth? It is 1.8 between centres.
It is 240 volts, 550 watts, 1440 RPM and 1 phase.
Thanks

It is a home made job, I'd say about $150 - $200 max

Looks like an old Golding G8? I think. In fact with your location our benevolent dictator may have owned it.

I don't think it is a golding headstock, if so it is different to the golding headstock that I have

They made about 8 different models.

Ok I stand corrected, the one I have is of better construction although I only have the headstock, I purchased it as a spare part to build my first lathe, must have been about 1980 odd. As a coincidence I have only just got it out of the shed and re sprayed it. it is going to be put back to work

It's a Golding Swivel head lathe. Made in Geelong in the late 1980's long bed is a bonus. Still worth about $500 no more. Has morse 2 taper both head and tail and will take most chucks and other turning accessories.

They were the originators of the swivel head and cam locks on cross slides etc. Also infinately adjustable centering for head and tail stock. This was the first of their cast head models with a split castring, the later models were a solid 1 piece casting.

More than likely this one came from me either directly or indirectly through Central Victorian School of Woodcrafts which I used to run in Newstead. Used a heap off them in woodturning classes and sold dozens of them to students.

Still should be as good as, or better than anything else in the same price range. A bit agricultural but they work very well.

Cheers - Neil

Well that explains it mine has a fabricated headstock, it was the agicultural part that mde me think it was home made.
