Hi, I'm wondering if there are any turners on the Central Coast (NSW) that would be interested in turning some timber for me.:)
I make toy cars, trucks etc. and make my own wheels.:D
I've just bought a mini lathe to detail the wheels, and what I need is someone to turn up timber to a couple of diameters. In lengths no longer than 300mm, at 62mm and 38mm diameters. I'll turn the wheels from those.:U
In the past I've used whatever timber is laying around but would like to use quality timbers now, both soft and hard. So I would rely on the advice of the turner/s as to what gets the best results.:?
I could supply the timber or we could make some arrangement. Happy to pay for the turning, cover costs, pickup, drop off etc.:)
If you're interested let me know.
Cheers, Billy:fireman:

You're a bit too far away for me to play, but I'd suggest that you have the blanks turned down oversized; let's say 65mm & 40mm.

After all, wood does tend to move a bit, often ovalling, so this'd give you a margin of error.

When detailing the wheel it should be a simple matter for you to bring the rim down to final dimension. :;
