This this from a piece a log which still baffles those in the know was told originaly by the fellow who cut it down it was White Mahogony since then forumites and others have said Swamp Mahogony, Ironbark +++ more.

the rush to do it was it was still sorta wet and cracking approx 9 1/2" dia 2 1/2"deep

So does the LOML Arthur as this bowl is for the fellow & his wife who supplied the wood got to keep in the good books as he can supply more as I need it.

its not a light bowl its solid hardwood but cut great most of the time.

Eliza yes it still may crack :( I had to CA 2 main bits which is the fault line.
It will sit here for a few days before I pas it onto the new owner who will be made aware of the problem. If it should crack it will almost be a straight line so I can repair it if it is the only place. :2tsup:

Alan thanks being my 1st large Aussie wood bowl besides NSW Rosewood x 3 I am happy its turned out so well.

Aussie finished with Macadamia oil as I will suggest its use for salad bowl.

Had a busy few days with brithdays n stuff but got to finish these 3 at last.

A final sand and finish coat

Macadamia Spalted

a little Snowgum

Looks like its gonna crack :C Swamp Mahogany
