I am looking to make clocks using burl slices. I am after the names of some good product to fill and coat my slices before turning them into clocks.

What i require is some sort of high gloss 2 pack self leveling resin that i can use to fill holes and cracks before turning my slices into clocks, tables or even some sort of lazy susan please.

any help will be apreciated

thanks Ian

Have you tried casting resin to fill with?
And then top coat afterwoods with a 2 pack like wattyl.

That's what I am currently doing with a cedar oblique slab for a coffee table.

Only problem has been that with cracks coming right through, on the underside I have had to lay paper, then plastic over the cracks and then screw flat boards like scrap mdf over the top to prevent the resin from running right through.(I would even consider bogging the underneath with builders bog if it won't be seen )

Hope that helps

I trialed (successfully) Aristocrat 2 pack in this series. Resulted in this clock which is currently on the living room wall. part1 (http://stusshed.wordpress.com/2009/07/31/a-burl-clock-for-the-shed/) part2 (http://stusshed.wordpress.com/2009/07/31/aristocrat-photo-gloss-a-burl-clock-for-the-shed/) part3 (http://stusshed.wordpress.com/2009/08/01/completion-of-clock-project/)

Hey Dorno

There is a product called Enviro-Tec, that is a 2 Pack mixed 1:1 that is self leveling and when done right looks like glass, most Resin Sales type people know about it.
I swear by it and am in the process of trying it at making Pen Blanks (Label Casting)
