A lidded container from redgum, 270 high x 75 wide .All from one piece 90 x90 350 long , happy with everything except the finial, as KenW said, redgum is fire wood (for finials only) not sure whether to replace it with some other dense wood. John W

The lid's to keep bugs out of your mead? :;

I like redgum, regardless of what Ken says. :p The main problem with the stuff is that it likes to move, so isn't really suitable for items like lidded boxes. Give it a week or three and the odds are good that the lid won't fit anymore.

Even so, it's a pretty wood and your goblet looks good by itself. :2tsup:

Who knows, if the lid is a loose enough fit then any movement may not even be a problem at all!

The redgum certainly has a beatiful grain. This looks like it belongs in Church.

I like the photography - the lid looks like it's hovering! :)

I do like the whole pice, but I have to say that the goblet stands very well on it's own...

Lovely grain in the redgum.

cheers,
Dave

I agree with Ozkaban - if it moves and the lit won't fit, it will look great on it's own anyway. Good one John :2tsup:

Thanks everyone for the compliments on the goblet.
The redgum was from a post I picked up from Mitre 10 about 5 or 6 years ago, too good to be buried in the ground.
I made this many months ago, and the lid still fits in all positions as well as what is was when I turned it.
thanks again John.

If finials can be done from RG, why not?
