The last thing I made before I packed the lathe away, was this Lazy Susan my sister wanted for her daughter-in-law. It is made from Camphor Laurel, but the base is from a pine which pattern matched. It is 47cms wide, and though the picture shows the bottom a bit curvy, it is concaved. I just love the colours, and as that timber is almost a pest in this area, I am looking forward to using a lot more.
Hope this meets with approval.
Cheers, Shirley

Nice work! Love the look of the camphor, and it clears the sinuses when working on it :D Top effort.

How tall is it?

Cheers,
Dave

Hi Shirley

Good to see someone hiding the bearings so many people just join the two pieces with the bearings a lot of them are straight of the bandsaw and havent been near the lathe. Nice piece of timber and good work.
Cheers Tony

Thanks for the comments. It is 8cms high. At the Club in Rockhampton where we were taught, putting the base straight onto the top was a no-no. It had to be recessed. I was amazed to see some with the bearings exposed at some of the markets in Tassie when we were there. I feel that is a lazy way of making them.

Absolutely beautiful piece of work Shirley. I've filed your design away in my mind for when I see a suitable blank.
I disagree about the tree though. It is not almost a pest, it is absolutely a pest.:U:U
