I guess the Paoli method is one way of making a hollow vessel (the no hollowing method :U), but to my eye they're, well, just ugly.

Anyway, there are three main types of tools that you can use for hollowing:
Oland tipped tools
Hook tools
Commercial hollowers like Woodcut and Rolly Munro hollowers (mostly modified hook and Oland type tools).
The first two you can make yourself. There are postings on the forum about these, just do a search. One forum member also makes an Oland tool which he sells under the name EziKut (http://www.woodworkforums.com/showthread.php?t=103216&highlight=EziKut). A website with info on making your own hook tools is here (http://aroundthewoods.com/hookuse.shtml).

As for the method on how to use them, have a look at the following video, the method of use is much the same for all three types of tools.

Here you go some info on Oland type tools. These tools are some of the easiest to use and sharpen

These are not pointed directly at hollow turning, but you may browse around in them and find what you are looking for.
