Hi - Planning to make a number of pepper grinders as Christmas Gifts but would like some ideas on whether to use stainless steel or ceramic grinding mechanisms. Have only bought stainless steel so far, but the ceramic are cheaper (not that I want to be a cheapskate) and was just wondering what you all thought.

Thanks.

G'day SS!

I do a few grinders and you can't go past the Crushgrind mechanisms. They are adjustable and have a twenty-five year warranty, at around $19 a unit.
The cheaper Ceramic mechanisms (about $9) are fairly good value and work well, better I feel than the metal grinders. Both can be purchased on-line from Carroll's Woodcrafts. Home | Carroll's Woodcraft Supplies (http://www.cws.au.com/)

I always use the crushgrind since they became available easier to fit up as well
