Hi, Can a framing nail gun be used OK for pine lining boards or will it drive the nails too far? thanks Spin

It's not the depth (that's reasonably adjustable with a bit of playing around), its the fact that a framing gun will punch stonkin' big 8mm holes while your finish nailer will leave neat 1x3mm holes, which are a joy to fill in comparison!!

The larger nail shank diameter is also much more likely to split the wood.

You can pick up a cheap finish gun from $80ish.

Thanks for clarifying that. I have seen the Trade Mate / Spear and Jackson finishing guns going quite cheap so hopefully they are reliable. Thanks Spin :)

I have a C brad nailer - spear and jackson and I did all of my house skirting board. It seems to be a pretty basic and reliable gun. But no idea how long it will last under constant use.

Thanks Pellcorp, you have given me some confidence in them. Ideally I would like a portable gas operated gun but they are expensive, but as someone else said, could buy one, do the job and get most of the cost back when I sell it. Spin
