As a result of disappointment with a number of sites that are just shills for pay plans, and often not very good ones at that, I am kicking off this thread with a few sites that I have used with varying regularity, that have at least some 'free' content.

This used to be the best free site, but is now driven by ad revenue. The above link should take you to the 'free' section, which is now a bit hard to find. They also have links to pay sites, banner ads etc.\

Another 'mixed' site, at least they keep the free & pay plans separate.

A good site, this one has the option to view a small picture of a lot of the items in the plans. Also has the option to display only 'free' or free & pay plans.

One of the best magazine sites, with a good selection of plan/articles for free, as well as some pay plans. They also have a good selection of how-to & woodworking knowledge articles for free.

I found this link didn't work however if you just type in www.popularwoodworking.com It will take you to their main page and you can search the site for what you are looking for.
