Where is Paynesville?
There are any number of dovetail jigs/guides on the market, or you can make one for yourself. If you use a router and a router bit you can buy any number of inexpensive jigs for half blind dovetails. Google Rockler if you are in the States.
The same applies to dowel jigs. There are plenty available commercially.
