Hi guys,

I'm a real newbie to Carving and after making a Carving Brace (I don't have a workshop at home unfortunately) I need to go out and get some tools.
Where in Sydney would anyone recommend I go to 1st try some tools that I can purchase and also get a good sharpening stone?

Also are there any good Wood Carving Clubs/groups that meet on the Upper North shore of Sydney (around Hornsby) that I could go and visit.

Thanks.

Schotty.

hi schotty
i suggest you try the sydney woodcarvers
they have several clubs around sydney
the closest to you would be

Epping Creative Centre, Dence Park off Stanley Rd, Epping 2nd & 4th Wednesday Evenings 6.30 – 10pm :

drop in and find out what tools to get and where to get them
they may even sell some tools from there
they will be able to tell you what is needed to get started
the types of chisels and knives depend on what type of carving you want to do
i find my pfeil chisels pretty good

hope this helps

ps - i dont work for pfeil chisels
but i am a member of the woodcarvers group (chesterhill)

cheers
