Hi all.

I used this timber in a table saw sled that I made recently.

I cannot remember where or when I obtained the timber.

It was a piece of hardwood about 48" x 5" x 2" and looked like it had been used in a timber fence , well greyed.

When I took to it with the planer and router a beautiful red timber emerged.

I would like to purchase some more of this timber if I can find out what it is.

Has anyone any suggestions.

Not Blackbutt.

Could be Blue or Grey Gum. May even be an Ironbark.

definately greygum. It's very hard, so makes great posts. Doesn't make great firewood.

Has a nice pink to white to red colour and can be mistaken for red ironbark (in very small parts it's deep red)

Now that the timber has ben exposed to the air for a few days, the colour has changed to more a reddish-brown.

I attach a couple more shots.

If I get time next week end I will take a sample to Trend Timbers to see what they say.
