How to fix merabu slats to square steel posts?

Hi I have often read this forum and gained many helpful hints so a big thanks!

I now have my own question, I need to attach merabu slats (horizontally) to square steel posts 50x50, For a slat fence.

Am i best to bolt timber batterns to the posts and then screw the merabu into them? any other options?

Also do i need to pre-drill each slat?

I would Pre drill every slat and use a gal screw, metal tip obviously, if you ask a the bolt shops the best ones are called a wing-tek, made by buildex:2tsup:

Chowchini is right. MAke sure you get the screws for anchoring timber to metal.
