Maybe I'm a dreamer trying this - but - one never knows unless one tries.

My wife is in the local Breast Cancer Support Group and they would love to get involved in Dragon Boat racing - BUT - a dragon boat costs a fortune.

Does anyone know if there are plans available to build a dragon boat.
Of course it may be out of the question building one out of wood.

Any ideas, suggestions, links, advice would be appreciated.

There were a couple of dragon boats stored on a local footpath for several months a while back. Construction looked to be pretty simple - ply sheets over 1x3 & 2x3 framing. Hull cross section was a point down pentagon basically, near vertical sides, several cross members at gunwale height, 2 bulkheads plus a small flat bow bulkhead and a squared off stern.

I think these ones were made in 3 sections that bolted together at the bulkheads, & a simple 'dragon' prow model. Possibly 'training' boats for one of the sponsored teams, or 'old' technology now.

No photos, and all from memory, which is fickle.
