OK, I am passing this on from another forum (not one to do with wood). Someone has a mahogany furniture item with a white heat mark on it. Can anyone suggest how to remove the heat mark without ruining the piece? I have asked for a photo but so far no luck. And my books on this sort of thing are in storage at present due to renovations ...
