<style></style>I reckon this would be a good buy. I've use the mechanical variable speed system before, and while not a patch on EVS it certainly is better than the other alternative. When people ask about lathes suitable for beginners this is what I think would be ideal.

This was the original lathe a long time ago before the MC900-1100s came along.

They were a good solid built lathe but still a buggar with that V/S setup.
