Hi everyone, newby here. I had the basic incra jig for over a year now and was able to buy an LS around Christmas.
I've watched the video on Youtube more times then I can count and the big dude on there says something about a centering template. It takes into account the size of your bit and then the width of your board.
Where would I find this template???

INCRA Gauge (http://www.incrementaltools.com/INCRA_Gauge_p/ig32.htm)

Not what your looking for but they look a nice thing anyway :)

I've ordered one of these:

iGaging Magnetic Base w/ Digital Indicator (http://www.incrementaltools.com/iGaging_Magnetic_Base_w_Digital_Indicator_p/iga-35-510.htm)

I'd be just as happy with a dial indicator but the digital is easy enough to use...got a tip set also...

Sorry, all that's off topic isn't it...

Thanks Mike, I think I'll get that Auto Center device. I really don't like the guess work of centering. I wonder why Incratools.com doesn't sell them. Anyway, $15 isn't bad at all.

Where would I find this template???

I tried two products from Incra, as stocked by the sponsor of this part of the forum, the thingo which you've described and the centering rule. The former was so simple and fool proof to use that I easily chose it.

Can't remember what it's called but it's fantastic. :2tsup:

What will you use the digital gauge for Damian?

Ozhunter, is there a name of the template?? I guess it's possible I have it in the 50 some odd templates I have.

The template has graduations on one end that refer to the bit diameter. There are destructions in the back of the owners manual on how to use it. I haven't used mine yet, so I can't give much more insight than that.

EDIT: Got off my acre and went and had a look. It has INCRA AUTO CENTERING printed on the end.

EDIT EDIT: What time is it where you are?

well no dice. Looked through my templates and I don't have an auto centering one. I really hate centering on the incra, it feels like I am guessing. At least according to the standard instructions.

The auto centre scale is available as a spare part, it's a bit far for us to send one, try Incremental Tools.

I don't understand the question ? A dial guage and magnetic base are standard equipment in any machine shop. One job I may apply mine to is measuring the thickness of the plates of wood used for the tops and backs of guitars. They are too broard for vernier calipers. There are a number of approaches to the problem but a flat table and that dial gauge are one solution.

They are also handy on the (metal) lathe.

I didn't specifically need a digital one, and batteries are a bother, but the resolution and easy reading are appealing, especially as the grey factor increases under my hat :)

Does that answer your question ?

I made and use this on the drill , circular saw and router table.

That's nice gear.

If I needed to set a router bit height for example I'd use a stiff bridge like a steel ruler on edge and the depth gauge function of a std vernier. You just subtract or add the thickness of the ruler (also measured with the vernier) in the calculation.

Slower than your tool, but I don't do it often enough to warrant making a tool like that.

Very good workmanship BTW.

Thanks. I am a tech teacher and I have to show my students a range of processes. This is just an example of CADCAM, Milling, Drilling and Turning.

I just recently bought the LS positioner for my tablesaw, along with the left side router table. When using the positioner for the tablesaw only, the system works flawlesly. When I put on the wonder fence to do jointery, I can not get a clean cut on the pins or tails of any size or thickness of lumber.I follow the manual suggest router bit size and lumber thickness. While routing ,it eitheir chews up the joint or completely breakks it off (1/4").I am using a screw clamp with backer boards front and back .Wonder fence in perfect alignment. Any suggestions greatly appreiated
