Chris Craft Runabout plans

Has anyone built or know of any good plans for a Chris Craft style runabout. I'm looking for a plan that will accommodate a V8 chevy engine and look as close as possible to a mahogany retro Chris craft boat that can be used for Water skiing.:cool:

If you are still around Salty, plans are available from Wooden Boat Magazine (http://www.woodenboat.com ) for a whole range of lookalikes and the real thing.

Thanks BertW, Bitingmidge and Marker for the info. I posted this a while ago and had almost given up hope!

The Glen -L Monte Carlo looks good to me. Anyone had any experience with this or similar plans and turning them into a hole in the water into which you throw money??;). I have built a Ian Oughtred dory ( John Dory 18 footer) so building a large power boat will plonk me on my arris down the low end of the learning curve again!:rolleyes:

Hi Salty, did you pick a design??? And what did you go for. i was sailing on the bay in Melb this summer when a Chris repo pulled into sandringham yacht club.
It was a really great job the guy did. The bad news is he said it cost him close to 60k to build.

There is a section there on Mahogany Runabout plans for both inboard and outboard. Keep in mind that they didn't make big V8's when these boats were designed. Depending on the design, they were made to top out at anywhere from 15 to 30 MPH.
