Ad de Crom 26th January 2010, 01:12 AM After doing for 5 weeks nothing at all in my workshop, the cold winter was responsible for this, my first turning of this year.
Made of spalted scraps of alder this lidded bowl DxH 154x90mm.
Finished with three layers of blanc transparent lacquer.
On some places this spalted alder is a bit brittle, but okay, it has also it's own charm.
Cheers, Ad
artme 26th January 2010, 01:44 AM Yes Ad, that little effort also has its own charm. Well done mate!!:2tsup::2tsup::2tsup:

hughie 26th January 2010, 08:21 PM Ad,
Elegant piece, the colour of the alder has Alabaster qualities about it.
Ad de Crom 26th January 2010, 08:35 PM Thank you all very much guys.
But now I'm back into the house, bitter cold again, strong wind, wind chill minus 15C.
Ad :cold2:
Hardenfast 30th January 2010, 08:09 PM Very nice indeed. Ad. After segmented pieces my next favourite appearance would be those with spalted timbers. That one looks like a keeper.
Enjoy that weather!. My son is currently living in Toronto (Canada) and has reported similar temperatures to yours recently. Nice place to visit.....maybe.

Ad de Crom 30th January 2010, 09:10 PM Thanks Wayne and Graham.
Again white stuff, nice for the kids but not for this guy.
Came last night back home in a snowstorm, after visiting good friends in a neighbouring town. Pretty scary to drive on snowy roads
Long time ago we had such a long and cold winter. Global warming???
Ad
powderpost 30th January 2010, 09:20 PM Nice simple bowl, the spalting is enough feature in itself. Well done Ad.
Jim
hughie 31st January 2010, 04:43 PM . Global warming???
Nah, new catch phrase is Global Freezing. The whole world will freeze by 2050 glaciers all the way down to New York and you can walk to London from your place... well dog sled anyway. :U
Gil Jones 31st January 2010, 04:53 PM Ad, that is a very well designed piece from some fine looking wood.
