We have several lines of Melaleuca armillaris - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melaleuca_armillaris) on our 25 acre block and they provide a very good wind (and neighbour) screen.

You also look at Acacia retinodes, or Wirrilda. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acacia_retinodes) Have good success with those as well.

lilly pilly grow almost anywhere and have attractive edible fruit which can be made into jam. Avoid photinia or fotinia how ever it is spelt they stink like dog faeces and will become too dominant. there are also quite a few conifers if they take your fancy personally they don't do it for me.
