Valentine's Day is coming. You still have time to make some cupcake earrings for the ladies.
1/2-inch hardwood dowels, scratched flutes, polyurethane varnish, white paint, red beads.
Get creative with the "icing," by adding some sprinkles.
See http://www.woodworkforums.com/f8/birdhouse-earrings-procedure-57866/ for more construction tips.

Cheers,
Joe

I've experimented with a few other shapes of topical or seasonal interest: bowling pin, ice cream cone (2 types), Christmas tree ornament, snowman, Jack-o-lantern, even a lighthouse which could be painted to match local landmarks. The lighthouse might need drilling in the base to reduce weight. I haven't done Imperial Russian eggs or Matryoshka (solid only) yet.

They're fun to make. Long-line production, as with the birdhouses, seems best. Anything round is fair game. I suppose I should write something up for the AAW Journal or our WT club newsletter, when/if I get a round tuit.

Cheers,
Joe
