In response to Weisyboy asking what I know about kiln drying and the fact That I plan on building a solar kiln in the not too distant future I thought I would put up these links regarding solar and dehumidifying kilns.

Solar Wood Drying (http://www.builditsolar.com/Projects/WoodDrying/wood_kiln.htm)
This link has several other links which would be a good starting point for anyone wanting to build a solar kiln.

Home-Built Dehumidifying Kilns (http://www.woodweb.com/knowledge_base/HomeBuilt_Dehumidifying_Kilns.html)
this is a discussion forum which gives some ideas about cost effectiveness of trying to build your own rather than buy a commercially available unit.

Home-Built Dehumidifying Kilns (http://www.woodweb.com/knowledge_base/HomeBuilt_Dehumidifying_Kilns.html)
this explores the principles about how to build solar kilns and has some other links which may be of use.

Good info, Travis. :2tsup:

I'll just add that there are a lot of smallish dehumidifiers now available for things like spray booths which would be just fine as the basis for a kiln.

Stickies are usually reserved for difficult to obtain info. Most of those links have been posted before and are amongst the first few when you type in "solar kiln timber" into Google.
