This is my first attempt at starting a thread so bear with me please.
I am a saw set collector and am looking for information about ATLAS tools. An old engineer friend reckons they were some of the earliest Chinese tool copiers. They made lathes as well as small hand tools - in particular I have a pistol-grip saw set which for all the worls looks like they took a Stanley 42, made moulds from this and began casting. Interestingly these ATLAS saw sets appear mostly in Australia and New Zealand. As a kid growing up in Cairns I also remember ATLAS-man advertisements for ATLAS tools - I think Hoey Fry's had some.
Can anyone throw more light on this subject please?
