Hi All

I'm new to working with timber slab. I'm building a coffee table (for the wife) using a regum slab as the table top. There are a couple of knots and holes in the slab and also bark skin along the side.. I'm going for the natural look.

Questions are:

1. What can I use to fill the hole with? I read a little of using epoxy with some tint/dye as this will show the imperfections and knots as they are. So what type of epoxy? Will Araldite from bunnings do and what do I use as tint/dye to match colour to timber. Where can I buy this epoxy and tint around melbourne?

2. The bark skin on one side of the slab is a bit soft, how do I hardened it and preserve it? Should I just lacquer over or use varnish??

Please any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
