:~ I'll just keep looking for the cutters at a reasonable price - the rest is childs play

hi vern
ive seen square tips that should work on any homemade shaft at bunnings in the paint section as a replaceable tip for a scraper i think it was only about $14

Thanks Troy but we have several sources for the square inserts now - it's those sneaky little round buggers we can't find :C

BTW, there is a thread already underway on CIO cutters locally available (http://www.woodworkforums.com/f8/cio-cutters-locally-available-115381/).

Jumping into this thread from the central US. I've searched high/low for sources for round 15mm approx flat carbide inserts - ala CI0. And while I've found 2nd sources for square and radius 8",4",2" inserts I haven't found an exact match for the flat round insert like the ones that you can purchase from Easytools for approx $17US.

I did find another supplier that had experimented with flat rounds. He found that he had to send them out for secondary sharpening. Considering the cost of a minimum purchase of 5000 units and then the followup sharpening he said he would not recoup his costs at $17US.

The square inserts seem to be more available because they are planer blades. But the flat round inserts must be a rarer beast in the insert world.
