Have had this one sitting in the shed for a while so I glued up the blank yesterday and turned today. Woods are Tassie Blackwood, Huon & Myrtle. Finish will be Kunos Oil (still have a couple more coats to put on it yet). I was a bit safe with the wall thickness and should have pushed it a bit more towards the bottom but am happy with the overall result.
If I do another, I will make the wall thickness thinner and avoid using woods with such different densities. During sanding the Huon has worn away more than the Blackwood & Myrtle.

Corbs, very pretty.
Nicely glued up, I'm agree with the difficulty of using wood with different density.
But for my view everything went out well.

Hello Corbs
Yep, have to agree looks superb. Different densities can ruin the effect you after, can I suggest only using hard timbers as this is an utilitarian device?

Nicely done Corbs :2tsup:
Lesson learned with the density issue...nothing like personally experiencing an issue like this to learn from!

Thanks all... I wanted to go with Tassie woods and I didn't have any Tas Oak (the real stuff) or other Tas hardwood so went with Huon.
