This (http://www.nytimes.com/2002/07/07/magazine/what-if-it-s-all-been-a-big-fat-lie.html?sec=health.) is an 8 year old article, and though it's long, is well worth reading for anyone interested in the food they eat and what it may do to them.
This blog (http://www.raisin-hell.com/) is also fascinating.

I read that article, and a few others, then I bought the book by John Gabriel (many chapters of which need to be taken with a helping of salt). Fascinating stuff. Makes me wish I studied bio-chem at school. One of my workmates did study bio-chem; funny that he has a BMI considerably lower than I.

BMI's are funny things, I'm apparently quite obese, (along with all rugby forwards)
Would that be celtic sea salt, or iodised, anticaked table salt? :)

AFAIK BMI's were first calculated by actuaries, not medical personnel, for the purpose of calculating life insurance risks.

Just as an aside, when I was sent down to the gym by my phsyio for workouts for lower back pain, they did a general fitness check, inc BMI.

Seems I was in Olympic athlete class :p
