hello there, i have recently gotten a wood lathe, it is a
UNIVERSAL WOOD COPY LATHE, i dont know much about this type of lathe, is there anywhere i can get information on the proper set-up of this lathe? i currently have it set up to use normaly but how does the copy part work?

if anyone can give me some advice on where to get some info from i woould appreciate it very much, cheers from David

I dont know a lot about them but the copying tool holder usually follows a template of the design you want to produce. The general word of mouth in woodturning circles (pun) is they will follow a general outline but are not real good at sharp detail.
Some pics of the copying parts would help. There have been a few posts on this in the past so have a browse. There will be a few on here that have tried one and can tell you more.

David there are a nmber of Universal type copy lathes any chance of a photo?

A few members have Symtec lathes which are similar.

Is it the lathe that is Universal, or is it the copy attachment.?

on the lathe it has UNIVERSAL WOOD COPY LATHE on it.
ill see if tomorrow i can take a photo and post it up, i also have some bits that came with the lathe but not sure what they do.
