Board for External Tiled Area

Hi Guys
This has probably been asked before but here goes
I need a board to be used outdoors and to which I will add tiles. This will be a BBQ work surface area. We are installing a parkland BBQ into what was once an area supporting a wood burning Pizza oven.
The board will need to be connected to bricks. I went to Bunning’s at the weekend and the guy there recommended Villaboard.
After doing a Google search on Villaboard I find that it can pull in moisture so will not be so good for use outdoors – even if I waterproof the board first (which I intend to do) prior to adding the tiles and BBQ. The BBQ area will see all weathers – full sun and rain.
So what is the best board to use?
I was opting to go for James Hardie fibreboard.

In my humble opinion you can't go past 15mm compressed cement sheet. Its the same as you would sheet your bathroom floor prior to tiling. You haven't mentioned any span it has to go over but it would go a reasonably fair way with end support only. With Villaboard you would have to make up a timber support structure as its main use is in the vertical position (wall sheeting) It cuts easily with a diamond wheel in an angle grinder ( 4 or 4.5 inch blades are not expensive and will do a marvelous job for you)

I have attached a plan view of the tiled area.
All dimensions are in cm.
The dark grey shaded areas are brick walls - 11cm wide hollow bricks.
There will also be some supports across the 3 section widths.
What would you use to connect the 15mm cement board to the bricks? Will liquid nails be OK as the weight of the tiles will hold the board down.
Can the board be cut with a saw?
I would need to cut the corner 30 x 30cm sections out

For the area you need to cover and the sizes etc, I would be tempted to deck out each bay with whatever decking material you can find most cheaply in your area, then cut three sheets of Fibro tile underlay and fix onto the decking and tile directly onto that. From memory tile underlay sheets are 900 x 1800 x 6mm and about $8-10 per sheet. Can be cut by scoring and snapping, with fibro shears, or with a carbide or diamond wheel. You could dress edges with underlay offcuts 75-100 wide and tile them as well to hide decking and achieve a fully weather proof job.

I would use a compressed cement sheet, and cut it with a diamond blade

I think Malb's suggestion is the quickest and cheapest option. It will be totally effective also. Remember blueboard is designed for outdoor use.
