A freind of mine has asked me if I know anyone who she could get to mill some blackwood logs. Apparently they have been on the ground for 3 years or so. Someone else had told her that they would be OK just left on the ground till she could deal with them. http://cdn.woodworkforums.com/http://cdn.woodworkforums.com/images/smilies/actions/shrug.gif They are a bit hard to access in a bit of a gully so chainsaw mill might be the go. http://cdn.woodworkforums.com/http://cdn.woodworkforums.com/images/smilies/cool.gif She will pay actual money. Which is always good.http://cdn.woodworkforums.com/http://cdn.woodworkforums.com/images/smilies/standard/biggrin.gif She is in The Patch, just next to Monbulk in the Dandenong Ranges. (Victoria. )

Anyone interested PM me and I'll pass on the contact details.

Dear tea lady,
I could do the job or have a look, but it's abit of a hike for me so I would need travel money. It would be better if someone closer could do it. By allmeans contact me and we can discus if no one els can do it.

Hey Tealady.

A couple of bits of info would be handy such as how big they are, and whether she would like them sawn into slabs or dimensional lumber. If they have been left down for that long they may have decay, and if the ends were not sealed they will probably be split, which means that they may not be worth cutting. Blackwood is bad for both of these conditions, and it also gets very abrasive and hard when it is dry, making it hard on saws. Hence the fact all those slabs you saw in my shed were cut green:2tsup:

Up that way there is Duncan Ratcliffe with a woodmizer in healesville. His contact phone number is 0401448239. He would be the bloke I would talk to, they have the gear to get them out and cut them up.
